Every single person who has sat down with us has said some version of this. And every single time, within ten minutes of talking, stories come out that surprise even them. You don't need to have climbed a mountain or met a president. The stories your family wants to hear are the ones only you can tell — how you met your spouse, what your neighborhood was like growing up, what you learned from your first job. Those are the stories that disappear if nobody writes them down.

No. You just talk. We bring recording equipment to your home, ask you questions, and have a conversation. We handle the transcription, the writing, the editing, and the printing. If you can have a conversation over coffee, you can do this.

That's completely normal and not a problem at all. We're capturing the spirit of your stories, not writing a history textbook. Old photos, family members, and our interview questions are great at jogging memories you didn't know you still had. And if a detail is fuzzy, we'll note it honestly — "sometime in the early '70s" is perfectly fine.

Depending on your package, about 6 to 12 weeks from our first session to a book in your hands. We meet once a week for interview sessions, then draft chapters between sessions. You review each chapter and we revise until it sounds right. The pace is comfortable — we're never rushing you.

Absolutely — this is one of the most popular ways people come to us. You can set it up as a surprise or involve them from the start. We'll work with you on the details and make the first conversation easy and comfortable for them. Many of our clients say their parent was hesitant at first but loved it after the first session.

Everything you share with us is confidential. Recordings are transcribed on our own equipment, and files are stored on our private system. When your book is done, you get everything on a USB drive. We can delete our copies on request. Our privacy policy and service agreement spell out exactly how your information is handled.

Yes, and we encourage it. Family members can sit in on sessions, suggest topics, share their own memories, or review chapter drafts. Some families turn it into a project everyone contributes to. It's your book — you decide how much involvement feels right.

Life happens. If you need to pause, we'll pick up where we left off when you're ready. If you need to cancel, our service agreement includes clear refund terms based on how far along we are. No pressure, no surprises.

Yes. Every package includes your book files in print-ready format. You can order additional copies anytime — for family reunions, holidays, or just because a grandchild asked for one. We keep a backup of your files for 12 months after delivery.

We're based in Reno, Nevada and serve families throughout the Reno-Sparks area, including Sparks, Verdi, and surrounding communities. We come to you — interviews happen at your home or wherever you're most comfortable.
